The definition of a Tip is: "A company or person who is interested in a specific service or product and is expecting a call from a Portland LeTip member."
The key here is that the business or person, to whom you are referring a LeTip member, is expecting a phone call. These tips are not "cold calls", they are valid business leads with a need for the product or service.
There are 4 kinds of tips, Inside, Outside, Inter-Chapter and Escrow.
An Inside Tip is where a member of Portland LeTip has the intent to use a service or product from another member of Portland LeTip.
An Outside Tip is where a member of Portland LeTip tips refers someone from outside of the chapter to a member of Portland LeTip to use a service or product from them. That person is expecting a call from the Portland LeTip member.
An Inter-Chapter Tip is where a member of Portland LeTip tips another LeTip member from a different chapter.
An Escrow Tip is for guests who are not yet members of Portland LeTip. A member has a legitimate tip for an open category or profession. This tip is given to someone in that category after he/she joins the chapter.
So, how much business do you really want? You'll be rewarded according to your ability to help others. The more tips you give, the more tips you'll recieve. Really. |

Hello Portland LeTippers! It’s the Saturday Night Tip Report! Another Amazing Week… …of tipping! I just went through the numbers and 39 tips were passed on Wednesday! Fan-Tas-Tic! 22 Outside, 17 Inside, 61 for the month, 1539 for the year!

Tips On Tippping Tipping 101 will be held next week after the meeting, so stay and learn a few tips on tipping. If you’re a new member, this is a great opportunity to learn the secrets of giving and receiving tips. If you’re below your 4 tip monthly minimum then you must attend. If you’re already an outstanding tipper, then stay and share your tipping techniques with us!
A Quote From The “Pres” Becky Hornsten said it best in her message: “Tipping for November and December. Since we are missing one week in November for Thanksgiving and two weeks in December for Christmas and New Year's... Claude and I have decided to merge November and December as one month for tipping records! November/December will end on December 17. All tips passed on January 7, our first meeting of the new year will be counted towards 2009 even if they occurred in the last weeks of December. “

To tip or not to tip: that is the question. Whether ‘tis better to write one or three, And pass the dollars of outrageous fortune, And refer business to the other members, And by tipping to them? To send green bucks. To tip; and to see my count arise Do I check the Inside or Outside box That phone is to call, ‘tis communication Overtly must I stated, To tip, to work. To tip: perchance to refer: ay, there’s the buck. For in that tip to you what dollars may come. When we have round passed by hand the white tip sheets Must we read all: there’s no time To read so thoroughly each single form. For who shall pass the next tip down the line, The week’s speaker’s time, member’s listen intently, The voice of business new, dollars your way. The meetings held each Wednesday and handshakes That gracious gesture to the visiting guests, When at start the speech the president makes Who shall read the creed? Who leads flag salute, To tip and now refer a new lead But that the dread of the Poker Folder The intent of which is to bring new guest No member brings guest, double-down at will And make you richer with chance for twenty dollars Than poorer by giving up that ten bill? Thus tipping does bring dollars to us all; And thus the passing of the shiny bucket Is filled o’er with the yellow forms of tips, And commercials are spoken for new clients, With this request to sent clients your way, And soon the meeting’s over. – Go you now! While they get credit for the tips, it’s those who received their tips who get the benefit of potential new business!
